Sand Harbor requires a vehicle reservation for morning entry during its May 15 through September 30 reservation season. The most efficient plan is to descend from the Emerald Bay parking area, visit Vikingsholm, continue to Lower Eagle Falls, and return by the same steep trail. The waterfall path does not create a convenient loop back to the highway. Wear shoes with grip because damp rocks and loose material can make the short route slippery.
