Dundee is a small, wine-focused town nestled in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, roughly 40 minutes southwest of Portland and 20 minutes from Salem. Surrounded by the rolling hills of the Dundee Hills AVA — the first and largest sub-appellation in the Willamette Valley — this community of around 3,200 residents punches far above its weight as a world-class wine destination.

The town is best known for Pinot Noir. The volcanic Jory soils of the Dundee Hills produce some of Oregon’s most acclaimed bottles, and dozens of boutique tasting rooms dot the hillsides along Worden Hill Road and the Dundee Hills Wine Trail. Celebrated estates like Archery Summit and Domaine Drouhin draw oenophiles from around the globe, while smaller family-run wineries offer intimate tastings with the winemakers themselves.

Beyond wine, Dundee offers farm-to-table dining at spots like the Dundee Bistro, a vintner favorite since 1999, and easy access to outdoor recreation. Fortune Park provides a family-friendly green space with playgrounds and basketball courts, while Crabtree Park offers nature trails along Hess Creek. The surrounding valley is perfect for cycling through vineyard-draped hillsides.

Dundee is ideal for couples on wine-country getaways, food enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a quieter pace with easy Portland access. The town sits along Highway 99W, making it a natural stop on any Willamette Valley wine tour.
