Peine del Viento
‘Comb of the Wind’ – a collection of massive steel sculptures by Eduardo Chillida anchored into the rocks at the end of Ondarreta beach. The waves crash against them, forcing air through blowholes in the ground. It is a powerful meeting of art and nature.
Monte Urgull
The hill guarding the east side of the bay. It is crowned by the Mota Castle and a large statue of Christ. It’s a pleasant hike up through the woods from the Old Town. The history of the city’s defenses is preserved here, and the views over the surfer’s beach (Zurriola) are great.
