When I first got to the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, I first noticed the awesome views. I grew up on the East Coast and had never seen the Pacific Ocean before. You can see it from the resort, and it is beautiful. The area surrounding the resort is well taken care of, with freshly cut green grass and cute palm trees.
As if the views weren’t enough, the check-in experience was great. The front desk staff are so friendly and welcoming. Have you ever gone in somewhere and just knew the person working there absolutely hated their job? Well, there was none of that here.
These people seemed genuinely happy to be there and ready to help. The valet and bell staff were great, too. When the bellman offered to take my overstuffed bags, I was happy to hand them over. I always overpack and didn’t want to lug them to the room myself.
What’s a resort without some relaxation? I worked a lot and wanted to sit back and enjoy some pampering. I chose the Ultimate Beachcomber Pedicure and the Summer Serenity Massage at the spa. The pedicure was one of the best I have ever had. I am always on my feet at work, so my skin can get rough, but the spa staff fixed me.
The massage was relaxing, though I wish it had been more deep tissue than therapeutic. The pressure was a little light for me. However, the Pineapple Papaya body scrub smelled so good, leaving my skin soft and smooth. I couldn’t stop rubbing my arms afterward!
I love food, so I was excited to try the restaurants at the resort. There was a place called Raya that had an amazing burger. It was juicy and came with all the best things, like lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheddar cheese. Did I mention the sauce? The sauce was to die for.
My husband got the steak, but it wasn’t quite as good. It had a little too much gristle for his liking. Next time, we will order two burgers. After that, he was ready for a good steak the next night.
We found it at EnoSTEAK. Just wow. We got the Kobe steak medium rare, and it was PERFECTLY cooked. I still dream about that steak today. 180blu is good for light bites if you are just snacky, but I recommend saving your appetite elsewhere.
The Market Place was an adorable place with quick-to-go options. They are open earlier and later than the other places, so we often popped in for an early breakfast and a late-night snack. We also spent too much money on wine there because it’s vacation, and we wanted all the wine.
Do you care about the environment? Because I do. Part of the reason we chose the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel was because we read online that they were really into environmental sustainability.
I asked the front desk staff about it, and they told me about the “Community Footprints” program. It’s a program where the resort works with the local community to save the surrounding ecosystem. I thought that was pretty cool. They are profiting from the beach, so they might as well give back.
We didn’t want to leave the resort, but if that’s your thing, there is plenty to do. There are plenty of beaches nearby. Disneyland and San Diego aren’t too far away if you don’t mind a little drive.
The Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel isn’t cheap. However, I think the friendly staff, delicious food, and amazing views make the price worth it. For my first time on the West Coast, this resort made me feel welcome and made sure I had a great time. I will definitely be back.
