Winner of numerous international awards including World Building of the Year 2012. The Supertrees have become as iconic to Singapore as the Merlion.

Opened in 2012 after six years of construction, Gardens by the Bay was conceived as part of Singapore’s strategy to enhance quality of life and attract international visitors. The project, costing over S$1 billion, was designed by UK-based Grant Associates with Wilkinson Eyre Architects. Since opening, it has welcomed over 50 million visitors and become an iconic symbol of modern Singapore.

Gardens by the Bay represents Singapore’s vision to transform from a “Garden City” to a “City in a Garden.” This ambitious project reflects the nation’s commitment to sustainable development and green urbanism, showcasing how nature and technology can coexist harmoniously in a dense urban environment. The gardens serve as a living laboratory for botanical research and conservation while celebrating Singapore’s multicultural heritage through themed gardens.

The Supertrees are architectural marvels ranging from 25 to 50 meters tall, functioning as vertical gardens that mimic real trees’ ecological functions. The conservatories, designed by Wilkinson Eyre, feature cutting-edge sustainable design with specially selected glass that allows maximum light while minimizing heat. The structures use innovative cooling technologies that consume 30% less energy than conventional cooling systems.

Gardens by the Bay embodies Singapore’s transformation into a “City in a Garden,” serving as both a premier tourist attraction and a source of national pride. The gardens have become integral to Singapore’s identity as a green, sustainable city and host major cultural events including the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations and Christmas Wonderland.
