While you’re in the area, you can also stop into any number of rustic bed-and-breakfasts like Silver Lake Farm Bed and Breakfast to tour historic regions.

The Everglades has been a fixture of the American imagination since the Spanish first colonized the state, and one trip to Everglades National Park will show you why.

Appropriate for this grand size, there are also a wide variety of father-son vacation ideas that feature the Everglades. You might go on an airboat trip to see the unimaginable wildlife, kayak through the wilderness, or simply take in the scenery during a fly fishing trip.

In any case, you’ll be crafting memories that will last a lifetime – and you’ll be able to hop back to civilization at hotels like the Garden Inn Homestead at a moment’s notice. And at the end of the day, you’ll end up with a father-son trip, unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before.

Though officials decommission it as an official highway in the 80s, Route 66 still lingers in the American popular consciousness as a symbol of the early 20th century.
