The permanent collection holds approximately 192 sculptures in marble, bronze, and wood plus hundreds of drawings and architectural plans. Monumental works line the Mediterranean garden terraces overlooking the Adriatic. A short walk away, the 16th-century Kaštelet chapel houses Meštrović’s masterwork: 28 carved walnut panels depicting the life of Christ, widely regarded as one of Europe’s finest sacred-sculpture ensembles. Meštrović donated the property and works to the Croatian people in 1952.
