One of my favorite small towns in Minnesota to visit is Lanesboro. This hidden gem is tucked within the heart of the bluff country. If you’re searching for a delightful mix of local history, outdoor thrills, and quaint charm, this small town is the perfect destination. 

Lanesboro is known for being the heart of southeastern Minnesota’s Root River State Trail. This 42-mile paved trail, set amidst stunning bluffs, offers biking enthusiasts a premier experience.

Beyond the trail, the town features a charming downtown with unique shops, art galleries, and eateries, all complemented by the scenic beauty of the Root River. This is an excellent day trip from Rochester and also the Twin Cities.
