The neighborhood guide

Apgujeong

A beauty capital, luxury district, celebrity zone neighborhood ideal for Beauty enthusiasts, Luxury shoppers, K-culture fans.

Signiel Seoul hotel exterior and skyline view

Apgujeong is one of Seoul’s wealthiest and most fashion-forward districts, occupying the northern edge of Gangnam-gu along the south bank of the Han River. The neighborhood built its reputation through decades of luxury retail and Korea’s booming beauty industry, drawing affluent locals, K-pop fans, and style-conscious travelers from across Asia. Apgujeong Rodeo Street and the adjacent Garosu-gil area anchor the district’s commercial identity.

What is Apgujeong known for?

Apgujeong is best known as the epicenter of Korean luxury consumption and the so-called “beauty district,” home to a dense concentration of plastic surgery and dermatology clinics along Apgujeong-ro and its side streets, as well as flagship boutiques for global luxury brands including Chanel, Gucci, and Prada housed in architecturally striking standalone buildings. The neighborhood also gained international recognition as the stomping ground of Korean celebrities and the origin point of the “Gangnam Style” cultural phenomenon immortalized in Psy’s 2012 hit, which references real Apgujeong landmarks and lifestyle.
