Peter Pulitzer was the founder of the Pulitzer Hotel. The family’s purchases of canal homes were revealed during our private tour, which also showed that they purchased additional surrounding properties for years to come.
The hotel has 225 rooms, of which 25 are suites. It is on two of Amsterdam’s most beautiful canals: Prinsengracht and Keizergracht. This hotel is an excellent place for families and kids. When we stayed there, the hotel gave our six-month-old a new toy each morning during breakfast.
The hotel offers specialty baby products and toiletries. If you have older kids, you can even drop them off for daytime activities such as the Van Gogh painting class, where they can learn to paint like Vincent Van Gogh.

2. Radisson Blu Hotel, Amsterdam City Center

The hotel has a fascinating history. Shortly after the outbreak of World War II, Maria Flieger-Gruyters moved to Amsterdam and, following the death of her husband, found a job as a guest house manager for a few properties on Singel 303-309.
The guest house owner hid soon after German forces occupied The Netherlands, as the Nazis and Dutch traitors wanted them. They would not survive the war. Now out of a job but with a nest egg built up, Maria purchased the guest house establishment from the former owner’s estate, and Hotel Estherea was born.
